The Haven as the Heart

This senior living project transforms the idea of a restorative haven into a warm and welcoming environment designed for both comfort and independence. The space strengthens the connection between indoors and nature, using soft light, greenery, and intuitive circulation to help residents feel grounded and at ease. Guided by wellness principles such as Attention Restoration Theory and Third Place Theory, the design encourages clarity, calmness, and meaningful social interaction. Every detail, from accessible pathways to acoustic comfort and thoughtful material choices, is created to support dignity, ease of movement, and a higher quality of everyday life.

CONCEPT STATEMENT
MOODBOARD

The haven is the heart of the community, the place where daily life truly comes together. Sometimes it is a quiet corner to pause, and other times it opens up for shared meals, small celebrations, or an unplanned chat with a neighbor. Light shifts throughout the day, plants change with the seasons, and these gentle layers make the space feel alive in simple, everyday ways. Warm wood, soft fabrics, and comfortable seating build a familiar and home like atmosphere, while thoughtful details ensure that everyone can move with ease and dignity. The haven becomes a space that restores energy when solitude is needed and brings people together when belonging matters most.
