Isidora - Invisible Cities
This pavilion is designed for the Atlanta BeltLine as part of an exploration of Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities. The assignment required creating an interactive spatial experience that reflects the essence of the assigned city while providing at least three distinct visitor moments. The design responds to views, circulation, and changing conditions throughout the day and night, inviting users to engage through walking, sitting, and reflection. Developed through concept imagery, user experience mapping, sketch models, and a final physical model, the pavilion transforms the narrative of Isidora into a sequence of emotional and atmospheric experiences that guide the visitor through a thoughtful, dreamlike journey.
CONCEPT STATEMENT
MOODBOARD
The model represents the emotional journey through Isidora, a city of dreams, desires, and memories. It immerses users in a maze of choices, where every path reflects the complexity of longing and exploration. Through key elements like the spiral staircase, time capsule, delicate cotton hangings, and the reflective bench, the model evokes feelings of hope, ambition, nostalgia, and realization. As users move through the space, they confront the contrast between idealized dreams and hidden realities. Ultimately, the journey itself, rather than the destination, becomes the true essence of Isidora.
